Implantable tissue isolation chambers
Implantable tissue isolation chambers for analyzing tumor dynamics
in vivo
Clinical Condition
Recruitment of new blood vessels is central to tumor progression.
Studying tumors and normal tissue is experimentally challenging due to rapidly changing events in a short distance and a dense 3D space.
Current Practice
Tumor implanted directly in host tissue or in culture.
No vascular/tumor biology detail.
Solution
Partially confined tumors within biocompatible and optically clear tissue isolation chambers.
Provisional patent.
Applicability to
in vivo
drug testing and cancer research.
